Glossary
- Box fighting
- Close-range combat where both players build small boxes around themselves and trade edits and shots at close range.
- Build fight
- Any engagement where both players are actively building and editing structures, as opposed to fighting purely with aim from a distance.
- Chest
- A container found in buildings that drops weapons, ammo, or healing/shield items when opened.
- Circle (or Zone)
- The shrinking safe play area shown on the map. The area outside it is the storm.
- Creative
- A game mode with no storm or eliminations pressure, commonly used to practice building and editing drills.
- Edit
- Temporarily removing part of a building piece to create an opening, such as a window or door, without fully destroying it.
- Edit and confirm
- An editing setting where the new shape locks in permanently once selected, rather than resetting automatically.
- High ground
- Any elevated position that gives a better sightline and makes you harder to attack from above.
- Landing spot
- The location a player chooses to land at from the Battle Bus at the start of a match.
- Materials (Mats)
- Wood, brick, and metal resources gathered by harvesting objects in the world, used to place building pieces.
- Piece control
- An advanced technique of instantly swapping one building piece for another during a fight, such as editing a wall into a ramp.
- Push
- Moving aggressively toward an opponent's position, usually to close distance for a close-range fight.
- Ramp rush
- Quickly building a series of ramps to gain height, often used to reach or contest high ground.
- Rotation
- Moving from one area of the map to another, typically to stay ahead of the shrinking storm circle.
- Shield
- A separate health bar, filled by drinking Shield Potions or Small Shields, that absorbs damage before your health does.
- Storm
- The damaging area outside the safe circle. Storm damage increases as the match progresses.
- Third-partying
- Joining a fight between two other players after they've already weakened each other, to pick off the winner.
- Zero Build
- A game mode variant with no building mechanic at all, where combat relies entirely on aim, movement, and cover from the environment.
